Can I bill my books to my student account?

At this time, we will not be charging students account for their books. Tarleton State University will refund any excess financial aid that students have at least 10 days before the semester begins, so students can use those funds to purchase their textbooks. If you, or your student is not receiving financial aid, contact Business Services about a book loan.


Is shopping at the Texans Campus Store the best option?

The Texans Campus Store is a student’s one-stop-shop for everything they need for their classes each semester, making it the easy and affordable option for all students. We work with faculty members and textbook publishers to ensure that all materials are affordable and available to students.


How do I know which books to pick for my class?

Each professor has given the bookstore a list of books needed for his/her classes before the semester begins. Students can find their book lists online 30 days before the semester starts. Books that are necessary for a class are labeled "required". Professors will also offer additional books that enrich the students learning experience, and those books are labeled “recommended”, or “optional”.


Can I rent my books?

Certain titles will be available for rental each semester. Rental books are ideal for students who want to save money and do not wish to keep their books after the end of the semester.

At the end of the semester, rental books are due back in good condition. (Writing and highlighting is acceptable in moderation, and the books must have no missing/torn pages or water damage to be considered in good condition.) If a book is not returned at the end of the semester, the student will be charged for the cost of a replacement book as well as late fees.


Can I use financial aid to pay for my textbooks?

Unfortunately, no. The financial aid office will apply any scholarship and grants that you may have to your tuition about a week before school starts. If you have more scholarships than tuition and fees, you will receive a refund from the school. This refund can be used to purchase books!


I do not have enough scholarships and grants to get a refund, what other options are there for me?

The financial aid office does offer a book loan program. You would apply with financial aid, and if you are approved, you will receive up to $500 on your Texan Card to use for books for the semester. (The book loan can only be used in store.)


I placed an order online, when can I come pick it up?

We send out an email to the address you provided when your order is ready to pick up! We recommend that you provide your school email or another email that you check regularly. We ask that everyone waits until they receive that email before coming to pick up their order, to avoid backup in the online order area. This process can take up to 48 hours.


How do I access my digital books?

If you purchased your digital book online, you will need to login to your account on the bookstore website and then click the “Activate and Access E-Books” link. You should see a picture of your book, or a place that has a place holder image and the title of your book for you to click on.

If you purchased an e-book in-store, your receipt has a long code on it that will give you access to your e-book. You will need to create an account on the bookstore website, and then click the “Activate and Access E-books” link. You will not see anything on your e-book bookshelf, but there is a link for “Click here to activate an in-store purchase”. Click that link, and enter your e-book activation code from your receipt!


What is the return policy for books?

We allow returns on books up to 5 days after the beginning of the semester. Books must be in the same condition as when they were purchased, and you must have your original receipt. If you have dropped the class, we allow returns up to 12 days after the start of the semester with proof of the drop.


Can I return access codes?

Access codes follow the same return guidelines as books unless the code has been scratched or revealed. We DO NOT accept returns of scratched/revealed access cards or opened access code envelopes.


I haven’t received an email saying my books are ready, what do I need to do?

Please make sure you use a regularly checked email when you are placing your order. If you do not see an email from us in your normal inbox, check your junk and spam folders. If you still do not see an email, please call us to confirm if your order is ready before coming to the store.


I ordered my access code online, why haven’t I received it yet?

We carry physical access cards at the bookstore. If you order something that says ‘access’ or ‘access card’, we will either ship the card to you, or you can pick the card up according to the shipping method you chose at checkout.
